Explore, Learn, and Indulge: Concord ArtWalk Expands to Exciting New Areas
Concord ArtWalk 2023
Get ready for an art-filled adventure as Concord ArtWalk enters its second month of this year’s scavenger hunt. The city is buzzing as art enthusiasts and Concord residentes set out to find featured public art in the Concord communities.
Don’t miss out on the fun – join in at Concord Park Place in North York, near Ethennonnhawahstihnen’ Park and downtown Toronto’s Concord CityPlace, embracing the beautiful Canoe Landing Park, bustling with captivating art pieces waiting to be discovered.
How do you participate in this art-filled adventure? Download the Eventzee app from the Play Store or App Store, create an account, and join the ArtWalk event by using the game code ‘CONCORD.’ Once you’ve joined, the scavenger hunt artworks will be viewable, and you’ll be ready to explore. When players find an art installation from the list, they can scan the QR code using the Eventzee app, learn about the artwork and its artist, and proceed to the next art destination.
At the end of each ArtWalk location, there is a reward waiting for you at the nearest Concord Presentation Centre – a $10 Concord Voucher! These vouchers can be redeemed at various local businesses and services in the area, giving you the perfect excuse to indulge in the local community. Whether it’s dining, a massage, or pet grooming services, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
A local ArtWalk participant, Alyssa, commented on the experience, “What a fun and interactive game! I didn’t know there were so many different public art pieces around Toronto. It was great learning about the artist and their artwork, plus supporting local business in my area.”
Last year launched the first Concord ArtWalk in Concord Park Place and since then it has expanded throughout Toronto’s largest master-planned community, Concord CityPlace. With the overwhelming success of this year’s ArtWalk, it might soon expand to other Concord cities in Canada and beyond!
For nearly three decades, Concord has been committed to public art in its major communities across Canada. Concord’s public art program creates a sense of place in its parks, public landscapes, and the towers they build, resulting in more than 60 permanent commissions of scale. Their mentorship program assists new local and Indigenous artists in pitching and communicating their art and culture to a public audience.
